Solutions Architects are part of the Akamai Professional Services team and work directly with clients to deliver Akamai’s solutions. They are involved with projects from requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing and customer sign-off. Solutions Architects work independently, within a small technical team in delivering the appropriate solution to Akamai’s enterprise customers. Solutions Architects plan, implement, test, and deploy Akamai platform configurations to integrate with customer web sites, develop and execute test cases and scripts for customer solutions. They work on internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve our methodology and quality of integrations.
Akamai’s Service Delivery team is responsible for integrating customers’ internet properties with Akamai’s Intelligent Platform. Solutions Architects work directly with Akamai’s customers to implement Akamai solutions and provide consultative approaches to our customer’s most challenging technical problems. The team works closely with Akamai’s Solution Engineers, Technical Project Managers, and Engagement Managers while executing on projects.
Work as a member of a cross functional project team contributingto the technology-based solutions and consult on concept feasibility
Own the technical components of a customer integration projectincluding but not limited to configuration, debugging, documentation, testing,and go-live support
Integrate Akamai’s solutions across Akamai product lines
Partner with Business Support, Sales, Engineering, ProductDevelopment and Technical Support to resolve issues that arise during customertrials, integrations, or post implementation support
Accurately scope implementation timelines for integrations
Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies
Review configurations with other Professional Service team membersto ensure quality and accuracy to requirements
Minimal supervision/review bymanager needed
Has advanced knowledge on at least one Akamai product and the underlying Intelligent Platform. Applies these to a variety of customer integrations and resolving customer problems
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of problems or issues requires the review of a variety of factors. Capable of leading a Standard Integration, SMP, or working on a Managed Integration. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Works well with other internal groups within GSS and PDG as needed for customer work
Experience implementing enterprise scale, n-tier solutions with direct client exposure
Experience with digital media technologies including streaming, codecs and container formats
Experience with UNIX and one or more web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures – Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting, J2EE, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP, Tomcat, Apache
Experience with data processing, Real Time Reporting and Analytics a plus
Excellent business writing, presentation and communication skills
Working knowledge of the full software development life-cycle
Advanced knowledge of the internet and internet related technologies
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, other related field or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 year experience with Internet technologies including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and web servers.
5-8 years IT solution delivery experience, preferably within a consulting organization
