Solutions engineering is the technical side of the Greater China sales team, a world-class organization that provides unanticipated value and strives to provide the “right” solution to our customers and prospects. Our Solutions Engineers possess the highest levels of both business and technical acumen - understanding customer business drivers; matching those to Akamai's technology, and clearly articulating complex solutions to prospective customers.
About the Job
Solutions Engineers (SE’s) are experienced sales engineering professionals, adept at defining solutions that meet the business and technical requirements of existing and prospective Akamai customers. An SE is self-directed, capable of leading technical sales activities, managing the customer technical relationship, and assuming subject matter expert responsibilities within Akamai.
Your engagements will cross architecture and implementation of web sites, web applications, API delivery & acceleration solutions as well as web security solutions defending from network layer through application layer attacks including DOS, DDOS and application specific vulnerabilities.
Drive revenue and create sales opportunities by managing the pre-sales technical process and evangelizing Akamai's technology to existing and prospective customers, and to drive new product and service offerings in both customer adoption and Akamai development.
Partner with sales and executive sponsors to educate existing and prospective customers about the superiority of Akamai's services - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related issues.
Engage and oversee in the development of customer proposals, design and delivery, ensuring all expertise, information and recommendations are concisely defined, while meeting Akamai quality control standards.
Support and educate Sales, Marketing and other internal departments to ensure that customers get appropriate updates, upgrades and event-oriented solutions.
Show high standards of leadership - actively developing and mentoring less senior staff within Solutions Engineering, Sales and the larger Service & Support organization.
Work closely with Product Management, Product Marketing and associated teams to develop future product direction and strategy - providing valuable input from the field.
Drive excellent customer satisfaction by understanding and over-delivering against Customer expectations.
Must be willing to travel up to approximately 35%.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information System, other related field or equivalent industry experience.
8+ years of relevant industry experience.
5+ years of experience in a “customer facing” environment such as technical sales or consulting.
3+ years of experience with Internet technologies (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.), including good understanding of both CDN and Internet application security technologies.
Must have experience developing and enhancing strong client relationships.
Prior experience working with one or more of the following verticals: e-Commerce, financial services and general enterprise.
Deep understanding of Internet security technologies – WAF and application security, DDoS mitigation, Bot/Scrawler technologies, SIEM technologies.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills appropriate to both technical and management clients.
A proven track record demonstrating good business judgment, an ability to make decisions, and a passion for excellence.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, drive for results, interpersonal savvy, and customer focus.
Hands-on experience in one or more web development technologies / architectures – J2EE, HTTP, DNS, Flash, etc.
