Reporting to the Sr. Director of Division FP&A, the Director of Finance Data and Reporting will support corporate goals and objectives around scaling Akamai’s ability to report on data across the entire business and drive consistent data metric, attributes and data process. The incumbent will work closely with a wide set of groups across the company; including Business finance (BU & Geo), FP&A, Sales Operations, Product Operation, Commissions, Contract Management Group, services and marketing. Responsibilities will include overseeing the day to day responsibilities of the data governance team, partnering on the planning process as well as the report development process, and overseeing that data users across the business have the training they need to successfully leverage our data for their jobs.
The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, but able to make connections quickly on how the business process, system and data all fit together. This role will be depended on to provide guidance on strategic changes and the impact on the business. As such, the candidate will need to possess a broad understanding of business goals and have had experience in an operational environment.
This role is part of the Finance Business Operation and Data Analysis Organization supporting and providing key business data, reporting, and training that is used across the organization and provides key insights into Akamai. The incumbent will be working out of the Cambridge office.
About the Team
The Business Operations and Data Analysis team validates, consolidates and produces certified centralized level data and reports to enable decentralized decision making across the Finance, Sales and Product Development Groups. Our goal is to drive consistent definition and data usage; utilizing technology, training and tie-out reports. Systems we regularly use are Oracle Business Intelligence, Oracle E-Business, Hyperion Essbase, SalesForce, Microsoft Access and custom software. The team consists of Financial System Analysts, Finance Analysts and Business Operation Analysts.
Manage the Data Operations, Governance and Training teams. Oversee the team’s day to day operations and play a key role in driving new projects.
Responsible for managing the CoE Customer & Product Master data to standard Data Quality KPIs and drive targeted areas of data quality improvements, implement proper change management procedures and new metric certification processes
Determine data needs and gaps for analysts in the Finance, Sales and Product Development Groups and work with across the CoE team to determine the best course of action to correct or improve the data
Establish and maintain a Reporting Calendar. This requires understanding enough of the Business Process behind data to understand the impact of calendar shifts
Partner with the Financial System Analysts and Hyperion Administration team to implement and maintain a scalable process to load timely and accurate data across systems. Certify that the data is correct and ties between systems.
Work with other Financial Analysts and Financial System Analyst to publish corporate data, reports and cross-train other analysts on the available data to support decentralized report generation
Prepare and present training materials and data documentation on the CoE certified Subject Areas to support decentralized report generation
Support the development and enhancement of standard reports for Analysts tie-out to insure data quality
Keep existing documentation up to date
Facilitate end user communications.
Generate and distribute standard corporate reports
Participate in special projects and compiling ad-hoc analysis as required and execute on other directives as needed.
12 years of experience with a BS/BA Degree or 8 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (Business or Finance preferred)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in Business Systems, ideally having support finance or sales organizations
Minimum of 8 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite including; Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Access and Project
Very strong analytic skills (must be strong in Excel) and high attention to detail; able to understand, analyze and organize complex and/or sensitive data sets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate financial and sales concepts to a broad audience.
Knowledge/experience working in Sales Force and Access databases
Strong drive for results, ability to multi-task and handle ambiguity and cross-functional team dynamics.
Ability to quickly and effectively troubleshoot problems.
Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) report writing and/or similar Enterprise Performance Management systems
Experience with data governance and MDM tools and concepts
Experience with Hyperion Essbase reporting
Strong project management and communication skills.
Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Ability to think strategically and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to demonstrate complete understanding of general finance and accounting business processes.
