About the Job

This position is a key role within the Web Security Finance team that will provide both financial and strategic analysis along with operational support and reporting of business results for Security Services. This individual will act as a business partner for both the Web Security Product Management team, as well as the Global Services & Support Security Services team, helping to ensure that key operational and financial objectives for the business are achieved. They will play a crucial global role across both the Product and Services teams ensuring consistency and collaboration. This role will focus on driving both strategic and long range planning, forecasting, financial & operational analysis, and reporting for Security Services. He/she will be looked upon to provide superior analysis and value-add support to the organization, act as a trusted business advisor, and work closely with cross functional stakeholders to drive a clear understanding of business drivers through clear analytics, operational metrics and business insights.

About the Team

This role will be an integral part of two teams; the Web Security Finance team as well as the Services Finance/Operations team. The role will report directly to the Web Security Senior Finance Manager with dotted line responsibility to the Services Finance/Operations Leader. The Web Security Finance team drives full P&L analysis for the Web Security business unit and directly supports both Product Management and Engineering. The team is responsible for forecasting and analysis related to all P&L areas including Revenue, COGS and OpEx. The Services Finance/Operations team owns similar responsibilities for the Services organization.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with Product Management and Engineering teams to develop succinct business case assessments for new products and new features including full P&L modeling

  • Lead monthly and quarterly analysis and reporting of Bookings and Revenue by Product, determine key trends and variance drivers through focused analysis and develop clear story lines to accurately and succinctly summarize performance

  • Play a key role in helping to drive the key strategic planning cycles for top line growth; Op Plan and Strategic Plan

  • Drive process rigor and standardization across key financial processes including planning, outlook/commit, monthly and quarterly close and reporting

  • Work with cross functional teams to analyze and present key financial and strategic issues to all levels within the business and within finance

  • Help to drive more accurate gross and net margin metrics for the business at the product, customer and business unit level, as well as create a deeper understanding and acceptance of the key P&L levers within the business team

  • Perform as a business partner and business analyst for Security Services organization, ensuring day-to-day oversight of Akamai’s Security Services business using Oracle, SFDC, and other systems.

  • Lead weekly/monthly/quarterly discussions and business reviews with the Security Services organization; identifying and analyzing trends.

  • Develop and implement metrics to monitor productivity and revenue performance.

  • Develop and distribute consistent functional reporting on core Professional Services metrics including billability, time to integrate, product fulfillment, time to integrate, etc.

  • Create reports and analyze data for trends that indicate problems to address or opportunities to investigate.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience and a BS/BA Degree or 3 years of experience with an Advanced Degree

  • Prior experience as a Finance business partner to a Services Organization

  • Clear thinking/problem solving; able to quickly grasp new ideas, organize complex information and successfully lead projects with cross functional involvement

  • Strong leadership skills and drive for results, able to handle ambiguity and cross-functional team dynamics

  • Curious, self-starter who consistently takes the initiative to address questions and build new processes/structures

  • Flexible; able to quickly and successfully adapt to change

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to structure cohesive analysis supported by details

  • Hands on experience with large amounts of data

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; can effectively work with people across multiple levels of the organization and is comfortable working cross functionally

  • Demonstrated ability to work both strategically and also at a detailed operational level

  • Graduate of a financial leadership program

  • MBA or advanced degree

  • Familiarity with Hyperion Essbase or Planning, Sales Force and Siebel

  • Experience with process improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma
