Akamai is seeking a dynamic, driven team player for a Sales Communications Manager position. The primary purpose of this job is to help mature and evolve the executive and social communications strategy for Akamai’s SVP of Sales, Web performance and security division. The ideal candidate will be giving our sales force more visibility to our business priorities and telling our brand story and will support the organization by informing, engaging and motivating employees in pursuit of a shared strategic vision and goals.
This role requires a strategic communicator who has a passion for innovating and executing in the executive and internal communications space, is proficient in executing targeted communications, thrives in a global and collaborative environment, is adept at writing for the C-suite, can quickly make and articulate connections between internal initiatives and the overarching vision of Akamai, and is highly skilled at leveraging a variety of traditional and digital communication channels. This individual will need to be a strong collaborator and have the ability to influence and build relationships quickly, leveraging cross-functional partnerships. A primary focus will be on helping employees understand the division strategy and link their work to the division goals and operating plans. And when needed, this position will be willing to contribute to a wide variety of internal communications projects for the team.
Work with SVP Sales and Internal Communications Director to create sales communication strategy that is aligned to overall company communications and meets sales organization goals; own planning, execution and reporting.
Write and edit communications that include emails, presentations, organizational updates, company announcements, program initiatives, compensation and incentive information, priorities and business updates.
Develop social media recommendations with a focus on social selling and brand building with external influencers and customers.
Contribute to company-wide internal communications and initiatives that may include All Hands, Leadership Meetings, intranet, etc.
Participate in Akamai’s Global Communications Network to ensure broad communications alignment and information-sharing across the functions and divisions
About the Team
The candidate will be joining Akamai’s Global Communications team, part of the Global Marketing organization, which includes Corporate Reputation, Public Relations, Analyst Relations and Executive and Internal Communications. This position is in the Executive and Internal Communications team and will report to the Vice President of Global Communications.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, another related field or its equivalent.
- 5+ years of related work experience in the technology industry.
Specific ability to communicate to a sales audience. Including ability to make vehicles predictable, speak to audience motivations and measure and report on participation.
Internal communications expertise, skilled at driving awareness and engagement with employee audiences.
Executive communications experience.
Superb verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
Produce original content in a variety of media, including email announcements, executive communications, PPT presentations, video scripts, social media, etc.
Makes data-driven decisions. Experienced at communications measurement and optimization, translate to lessons learned, and implement improvements.
Excellent project management skills. Handle multiple projects simultaneously. Deadline driven, well organized, and detail oriented.
Works well with various levels in the organization. Takes initiative.
