Akamai’s Web Experience Engineering DevQA team is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, highly productive software engineer focused on quality to lead testing efforts from small to large-scale projects across multiple teams.
As a Senior Lead SDET you will:
Collaborate with Development and Project team members at all varying levels
Lead test efforts for minor/major Agile releases with a focus to define and drive overall Test Strategy and assign testing tasks throughout all phases.
Coach, train and mentor test resources on the testing processes, test standards, and testing tools.
Create reliable, repeatable and iterative tests from Functional Requirements and Design Specifications
Incorporate manual and automated integrated product/system tests to replicate real-world scenarios.
Be adept at multi-tasking and comfortable in championing and influencing cross-functional project teams within geo-locations in adopting quality strategies and methodologies
Bring industry best practices into the team and our projects by building quality into releases
Identify priorities, demonstrate ability to shift them when necessary to mitigate risk to meet timely deliverables
Represent SQA testing status, risks, and issue findings in cross-functional core team meetings with supporting metrics and reports
Work with developers to isolate, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that surface during testing to drive quality results
About the Team
The Web Experience Engineering team has responsibility for the technologies that power our Web and Application Solutions. Our technologies improve the speed, reliability, and security of thousands of websites and web applications running on the Internet. Members of our DevQA team have a strong focus on System, Component and Integration testing across our Test Networks to provide reliable end-to-end workflows through our Distributed Systems.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree or
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience and a Masters degree
5+ years as a QA engineer working with server and network related technologies
5+ years working in automated test environments
5+ years programming/scripting in at least one object oriented language (Python, C++, Java, Perl, etc.)
4+ years of hands-on experience working in Linux.
4+ years working as a Lead POC in a cross-functional team, leading testing efforts
4+ years working with networking concepts and web technologies such as HTTP
2+ years working with Agile methodologies on one or more projects.
Understanding of testing methodologies: white box, black box, functional, automated, performance.
Domain knowledge in the area of web server (apache / tomcat), proxy server and caching technology.
Proven ability in leading small to large scale projects to success.
Excellent test case architecting skills. Proven skills in combining test case matrices and workflows to ensure traceability.
Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-managed, self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.
Passion to learn and dissect new technologies quickly on your own.
Experience working on multiple projects in parallel and driving them to completion.
Meticulous attention to detail and excellent debugging / troubleshooting skills.
Experience with OpenSSL, SSL Certificate Provisioning, RESTful/OPEN APIs a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong negotiation skills, a plus.
