The Senior Marketing Strategist will work directly for Akamai’s Chief Marketing Officer. This individual with partner with the CMO and the broader marketing leadership team to formalize and articulate the company’s 3 year marketing strategy including how and why we will adopt an increasingly customer centric and data driven set of capabilities. Today, the marketing function is in the midst of a significant evolution – both operationally and culturally – and the articulation of a longer-term vision as well as the prioritization and communication of existing initiatives is critical. In addition, there is a need to establish the analytics baseline for the longer-term strategy and plan, including marketing investment modelling and ROI projections, as well as business cases for future investment expansion.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and strategic marketer. An individual who has been exposed to and understands all elements of B2B marketing including strategy, messaging, technology, analytics, demand creation, sales enablement and social. This individual will also have a ‘learning mentality’ and constantly be looking to understand external best practices, trends, and opportunities that should be investigated and considered by the marketing leadership team.
The role requires strong strategic vision, operational experience, and a rock-solid analytical baseline. This individual will be a marketing thought leader and an exceptional communicator and story teller. Additionally, this role will be part of the marketing executive team – engaging regularly in the oversight of the function and prioritization of initiatives that align to the marketing strategy.
Work with the CMO and broader marketing leadership team to clarify and articulate the 3-year vision and strategy for the function.
Work with cross functional teams to develop materials that communicate that vision and strategy. Work closely with design and communications teams to produce compelling materials including, but not limited to, narratives, PowerPoint, videos, podcasts, and blogs.
Bring a strategic lens to operating processes and discussions, helping guide the organization to align tactical priorities that will result in the greatest impact on longer term goals.
Lead the quarterly refresh of the marketing strategy work. Bring outside-in best practices, innovations, and capabilities to the marketing leadership team for consideration and vetting.
Work with finance and operations teams to build the 3-year financial model for marketing including investment trends and ROI.
Participate in building effective agendas for Board of Directors presentations, QBRs, and other internal forums. Advocating for and ensure a strategic frame is consistently leveraged in communications.
Establish tracking, measurement, and analytics mechanisms to track and measure progress against strategic goals. Develop executive level dashboard.
- 8 years of marketing experience with BS/BA Degree or 6 years of experience with Advanced Degree.
Consulting experience at top tier firm with an emphasis on strategy
Track record of working on global brands that span multiple geographies
Data driven and analytical
Exceptional collaborator and influencer - drives change through ideas, relationships and actions.
Customer centric. Understands the impact the CX and UX have on brand, marketing impact and ROI
Excellent organizational, communication, program management, and process management skills.
Both strategic and detail oriented.
Gifted story-teller with the ability to use data and insights to make the case for change.
Industry experience in BTB technology or software.
