We are seeking a Senior Q/A Engineering Manager with automation testing experience and team management skills to ensure the quality of our security products running on the Akamai platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with creating both functional and performance tests for enterprise web applications and web services. Additionally, the candidate should have a solid understanding of product release processes and configuration management. They should also feel comfortable with Linux/Unix and working with distributed systems. The position may require coding, shell scripting, and performing data analysis using a variety of tools and frameworks as well. As a Senior Q/A Engineering Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing functional requirements, design documents, and bug descriptions and creating appropriate test plans

  • Creating, maintaining and executing manual and automated integrated product/system tests to replicate real-world scenarios

  • Updating the status of testing activities using JIRA issue tracking and confluence for more detailed design and planning documentation

  • Managing server configurations and code in several test and lab environments

  • Coordinating and developing automation for applying proper configuration management to servers

  • Representing SQA testing status, risks, and issue findings at cross-functional core team meetings

  • Working with developers to isolate, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that surface during testing

  • Developing automation metrics and managing the team to increase cycles of test executions and depth of test coverage across legacy and new product features

  • Representing the voice of SQA in Agile/Scrum planning and grooming processes to accurately represent the level of effort needed to perform testing activities within the sprint – test case development, automation development, etc.

  • Leveraging test-case management systems (Zefer, HP-QC, or other) to organize and report on testing activities and test coverage

*Representing SQA in internal discussions regarding resource capacity and resource demand for roadmaps

  • Collaborating closely with development, product management, program management, and product architects to plan, build, deploy and operate security products on the platform

  • Participating in cross functional business unit initiatives involving QA strategy, tools and environments

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or its equivalent or

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or

  • 5 years of relevant experience and a PhD

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in server-side or UI development and/or QA engineering

  • 3+ years of experience leading/managing teams

  • 3+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux/Windows environments

  • 3+ years of experience with object-oriented design and development

  • 2+ years of experience in test automation using Selenium

Desired Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with web application deployment, including application and database servers

  • Domain knowledge in the area of web server (IIS/Apache), proxy server and caching technologies

  • Familiarity with software security weakness, vulnerability and secure code review

  • Familiarity with software attack and exploitation techniques
