The Akamai Information Technology (IT) organization is comprised of industry leading professionals dedicated to owning and driving the innovation & transformation of Akamai’s Corporate Infrastructure, Applications, Development and Security for our customers and stakeholders. Information Technology manages all aspects of the program lifecycle as well as the coordination and delivery of key cross-organizational strategic programs, including prioritization, definition, planning, success metrics and ongoing delivery for these initiatives.

The CIO Management Organization is seeking an experienced, driven, results-oriented Technical PM to drive plan and manage digital transformation projects for the CIO organization with impact across all Akamai business units.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager your responsibilities are to:

  • Take high level objectives and requirements and translate them into detailed project and execution plans.

  • Facilitate communication among external stakeholders and disparate team members to ensure that everyone on the project has a common understanding around goals, objectives, and success criteria.

  • Drive and manage projects to completion in a timely manner.

  • Continually analyze and review data about the network to make sure it is optimized, efficient, and cost effective. Define metrics to help measure those goals. Use this information to inform plans.

  • Understand, measure and assess the process of building our network from beginning to end. Help define and implement processes, and procedures that allow for continual scalable improvements.

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or its equivalent or

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or another related field.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in any of the following industries: telecom services; internet services; datacenter services; development of networking or telecom equipment.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical project management or an engineering management role.

Desired Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Proven flexible leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organization and planning ability

  • A spirit of investigation:

o Able to ask good questions + curiosity to keep asking

o Ability to find connections between sometimes disparate sources

o Ability to anticipate risk and plan contingencies

o Excellent ability to organize information & communicate that effectively, whether written or verbal

  • Enjoys the challenge of complicated problems, determining the solution set, and ordering & prioritizing the associated tasks to solve the problem

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit - willing to take initiative, consider multiple alternatives, and break down walls to get things done while soliciting buy-in from all affected parties

  • Technical agility:

o Strong analytical skills and able to analyze large amounts of data

o Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly

o Experience with Linux command line and SQL are desirable

  • Creative and tolerant of uncertainty

  • Able to work in a fa
