This role will be a 12 month contract position focused on testing the performance, reliability, scalability, security, and functionality of Akamai’s technologies. These systems support and operate behind the scenes to provide the fault-tolerant and highly scalable core of Akamai’s configuration and health monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong automation development skills and work with engineering and quality teams to build and maintain system-level test automation tools. Our automation infrastructure spans many languages and supports testing highly distributed front-end and back-end systems. You will gather requirements, design, implement, and maintain tools and infrastructure used by more than a dozen teams.

As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be responsible for:.


Work with the QA and Engineering teams in the design and implementation of test automation tools.


Ensure that system and software under test meet product design/specifications.


Perform full SQA cycle for software releases in a fast-pace environment. This includes - but is not limited to - gathering specs, developing test plans, running automated and manual tests as

needed, and analyzing test results.


Design, implement, and support the infrastructure used for automated testing of complex

systems.

About the Team

The Web Division is responsible for the creation and sale of Akamai services aimed at providing instant and secure access to all Web sites and applications for users everywhere, on all devices, and across all networks. The Web Division includes the core functions of engineering, product development, product management, sales, channels and product marketing. This team develops and sells market-leading services in the areas of mobile & web performance, API and image management, DDoS mitigation, Bot management, and cloud security intelligence.

Required Education andExperience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or

  • Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD or

  • Relevant Professional Experience

Required Skills


3 years of experience with UNIX/Linux Operating Systems.


3 years of experience programming automation tests in Python.


2 years of experience with shell scripting.


1 year with MySQL/Oracle/Cassandra databases.


1 year of experience with SVN and GIT.


Familiarity with Jenkins.


1 year of experience in automation API calls

Desired Skills


Strong Analytical Skills, attention to detail and Excellent Problem Solving/troubleshooting skills


Proficiency in Quality Assurance, ability and agility to quickly learn new technologies

  • Experience working in continuous integration environment

Experience testing network focused applications, in particular security appliances.


Experience testing applications in an agile development environment.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Highly driven, positive attitude, team player, self-motivated and very flexible


Ability to work both independently and as a member of a cross-team project group.


Creative problem solving abilities.
