The Engagement Manager plays a critical role in ensuring overall revenue growth and retention within Akamai's strategic accounts. The Engagement Manager is an integral part of the sales cycle, collaborating with the Account Executive to expand the breadth and depth of Akamai solution and services adoption.
The Engagement Manager utilizes their background in technical consultancy, project management & delivery to design and implement technical strategies that align with our Customers' online strategies. They invest time in understanding Akamai, our Customers' industries, business models and technologies to ascertain the best route to long term development and a strong, innovative relationship between Akamai and the Customer. Akamai places great emphasis on Customer satisfaction, education, solution development, strategic management, & roadmaps.
Establish strong working relationships with Customers and drive revenue growth by solution adoption, product mix and long term strategic alignment to The Akamai Intelligent Platform™ and product portfolio.
Working independently or leading virtual teams to create a strategy to, evaluate the Customer's web architecture to deliver and support the appropriate technical solutions and roadmap. Lead the development of the technical aspect of customer proposals and ensure that all technical information and recommendations addressing customer requirements are concisely defined for technical & business audiences while meeting and often exceeding Akamai qualitative standards. Continue the education of Customers about the superiority of Akamai's services - this includes conference calls, site visits, presentations, technical evaluations & reviews, technical objection handling, proposals, and follow up on all customer related technical issues.
Utilize strong industry and technical expertise to provide consultancy and strategic development of our Customers' online goals.
Pursue all avenues - formal and innovative - to defend against competition, protect revenue from churn and proactively prove the value of both Akamai's vastly experience Service & Support and The Akamai Intelligent Platform™
Serve as an escalation point for the Customers' Service & Support Agreement, both for the Customer and Akamai. Collaborate across Service, Support, Sales, Product Development and Engineering to both resolve issues and solve Customer requirements
Drive excellent Customer Satisfaction by understanding and over-delivering against Customer expectations
Show high standards of leadership - actively developing and mentoring junior staff within the Solutions Engineering and Sales organizations.
Maintain an active course of self-development in Akamai & Industry technical developments, Industry trends and futures
Up to 20% travel required to support customer business review meetings.
About the Team
The Engagement Management organization within the Public Sector Services and Support team is focused on maximizing customer satisfaction, retention and growth by building and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Public Sector Services and Support team is dedicated to providing the highest quality customer service at every opportunity, and building industry leading web technologists for U.S. Government customers. We work to ensure that Akamai’s Public Sector customers are able to realize the full value of the solutions that Akamai can delivery to enable the customer's mission.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information System or its equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in technical pre-sales/sales engineering, consulting, and/or other customer facing role consulting on, delivering technical products or services.
Minimum 2 years of experience with enterprise-level project management (SOWs, contract management, risk management, staffing) or equivalent experience.
Experience in Internet technologies, standards and protocols, including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, Web architecture and design. Knowledge and/or hands on experience of web application development, streaming, site delivery, web analytics and/or security a plus.
Must have experience developing and enhancing strong client relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present technical and business related subjects to all audiences.
A proven track record demonstrating good business judgment, an ability to make decisions, and a passion for excellence.
Enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences.
Possess excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly
Exposure to security technologies, processes, and concepts such as PKI, SSL, firewalls, NIST 800-53, FIPS-140-2, Authentication & Authorization, Client Certificates, OCSP, etc. a plus.
