Are you the kind of person that is a driven, results-oriented Program Manager? If so, we have an opening for you! Here is an opportunity to work with our Media & Carrier team to plan, communicate, execute, and deliver our major projects, products, and solutions. In this role, you will work on products that will see deployment on Akamai's Global Network, within the networks of our strategic Carrier partners, and on the sites of the top media and entertainment companies in the world.
Drive product-centric core teams, partnering closely with cross-functional teams of Engineering, Product Management, Network Operations, Sales, Services, and Support to define, develop, and deploy product roadmap solutions that meet customer needs.
Participate in, refine, and materially lead the Product Process for various products and solutions, including leadership of the full software development lifecycle and release process for various development teams and software releases.
Use project management methodologies and best practices to ensure the successful delivery of products, projects, and releases.
Participate in internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve methodologies.
Negotiate program scope definition (and modification) independently. Work with program sponsors to prepare for executive presentations.
Provide guidance and informal mentoring for team members.
About the Team
The Media & Carrier team is responsible for the definition and development of all of the software used to deliver, store, and manage digital media and website content via the Akamai network, as well as software solutions to help drive scale and security within the networks of the world’s largest Internet, Cable and Telephone service providers. This includes developing and maintaining Akamai’s industry-leading products that are an integral part of Akamai's globally distributed network of EdgeServers that deliver media content for major customers and events.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, another related field or its equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of project and/or program management experience.
Minimum of 5 years of release management, or broad experience with the software development lifecycle.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, QA, release management, network operations, product management, professional services, etc).
Strong organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to drive the day-to-day activities of internal resources
Must be action oriented, capable of multi-tasking well, and able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technologies.
Experience with JIRA and Confluence is a strong plus.
Hands-on technical experience is a strong plus.
Knowledge of Internet and/or Media technologies (DNS, HTTP, streaming, web servers, etc.) a strong plus.
