About the Job
Manages a sales development team of 8 – 17 Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) as they contact customers and prospects daily via phone and email to identify leads and sales-ready opportunities. The manager will set team goals, hire, train, and develop team members, and work closely with sales and marketing leaders. The manager will motivate, lead, mentor and guide the team to achieving monthly, quarterly and yearly pipeline and revenue goals, improve process efficiencies and deliver on other well-defined objectives.
Hire and train Sales Development Representatives to meet the requirements of the position.
Responsible for the overall management of all strategic and operational Marketing and Customer Relationship activities.
Ensure key performance metric targets are met – outbound activity, inbound activity and opportunity goals.
Engage with sales leaders to ensure pipeline quality.
Set meetings for Sales reps on qualified opportunities.
Strategize with sales and marketing counterparts on pipeline and prospecting initiatives top meet company objectives.
Measure, monitor and report on Sales Development KPIs.
Funnel contribution targets.
Execution of prospecting campaign.
Team closely with Akamai sales and marketing counterparts to strategize regional funnel and prospecting planning.
Ensure all service level commitments to marketing on lead follow-up are met.
Provide new Sales Development reps with the necessary training, coaching and guidance to ensure early success as well as career development within Akamai.
Work closely with HR on all potential risk and disciplinary actions necessary.
Develop and execute career development and leadership.
Work closely with Product Marketing, Inside and Direct Sales, Customer Marketing, Pre-Sales, and Alliances.
Leverage all possible product training and applicable sales training on an ongoing basis.
Reporting and business analysis as needed.
Develop process and policy as necessary to ensure business goals are met.
Motivate and maintain morale to ensure goals are met.
BA/BS Degree in business or related field.
Minimum 10 – 15 years sales training and management experience.
Positive and energetic phone skills and excellent listening and writing skills.
Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment.
Team player, high energy, reliable.
Proficient with standard corporate productivity tools (email, voicemail, MS Office).
Sales training and salesforce.com experience a plus.
