About the Team

Akamai’s User Experience team designs our customers’ end-to-end experience—including how they buy and try Akamai and how they use and manage their Akamai products and services. This occurs though APIs and our portal UI, “The Control Center” and is in service of our customers, channel partners, and internal staff.

The team is made up of four disciplines: Research, Content, Design and Strategy. As the collective voice of the user, the team strives to create connected and intuitive experiences that accelerate both developers and users to achieve success—as they define it. To do so, requires improving the user experience, scaling a user centric approach internally and seeding the cultural transformation required to do so successfully.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly-motivated User Experience Strategist to join our UX Strategy team. This role will be focused on leading our culture and transformation work. This includes partnering closely with a team of other UX Strategists as well as the other disciplines within the User Experience team to advance a coordinated approach to culture change.

The UX Strategist, Culture and Transformation Lead will:

  • Identify opportunities to prototype UX practices (including Lean and other methods, problem and strategy definition, research, principles, tools, etc.)

  • Seize those opportunities by both personally taking point on specific projects to lead by example and by partnering with other UX teams prototyping UX practices

  • Elevate learnings to a system level to scale them across teams in an effort to operationalize UX methods

  • Establish metrics and methods to measure culture change over time

  • Track and report on culture change metrics to provide evidence of the value of the UX organization and a user-centered approach throughout the company

  • Lead education methods in pursuit of culture change, potentially including workshops, and project consultations in collaboration with the Strategy team

  • Collaborate and build a sense of shared ownership in proposed culture change initiatives to ensure success

The UX Strategist will continually collaborate with the UX Strategy team and all disciplines within the User Experience team to contribute to the team’s mission of improving Akamai experiences, advancing a UC knowledge platform and delivering sustainable culture change based on Akamai’s unique culture.

S/he will also partner regularly with the CIO organization, business units, Customer Experience team, Global Services and Support team, and other stakeholders across Akamai.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience, Design, Business or equivalent

• 10+ years of experience in UX industry

• 10+ years of experience with a wide variety of organizations: enterprise, consumer products, large and small

Desired qualifications

• Master’s Degree in User Experience, Design, Business or equivalent

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Past experience driving sustainable culture change in a large matrixed organization

• Deep expertise in user centered methodology with a proved track record of successful product or service launches
